Description
The Novi Sad Synagogue is a significant historical and architectural landmark located in the center of the capital of the autonomous province of Vojvodina. Built at the beginning of the 20th century according to the design of the famous architect Lipota Baumhorn, it is one of four surviving and functioning Jewish temples in Serbia. The building, recognized as a cultural and historical monument, is made in the Art Nouveau style and is characterized by a basilica shape with a massive dome, the height of which reaches 40 meters.
The facades of the synagogue are decorated with geometric patterns made of clinker bricks, and the spacious prayer hall, designed for 950 people, impresses with rich stucco and extensive stained glass. The unique architecture and excellent acoustics make the synagogue a popular venue for classical music concerts and other cultural events.
