Description
Studentski Kulturni Centar (SKC) in Belgrade is a significant cultural center, founded in 1971 in the historical building of the former Officers' Club. Since its opening, SKC has become an important platform for the support and development of student and youth creativity. The center actively promotes cultural enrichment, meeting the educational and artistic needs of young people, as well as all interested citizens.
As part of its mission, SKC offers a variety of programs and events, including literature, art, film, music and theater. The center also supports young creators through literary and musical publications, helping them to advance and establish themselves on the regional and international scene. The educational function of the centre is implemented through numerous seminars and lectures, as well as through the work of a folklore ensemble that contributes to the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.
SKC has two galleries - the Contact Gallery and the SKC Gallery, which provide venues for exhibiting the works of both established and young authors. The music programme of the centre is distinguished by its genre diversity, including concerts of jazz, ethnic, pop, rock, experimental and electronic music, as well as classical music in cooperation with music academies. Since 2011, the centre has been supporting young musicians through music publishing, and since 2017 it has been developing choral singing through the Kragujevac Singing Society.
