Baku is preparing to host the 17th stage of Formula 1, which will be held as part of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from September 19 to 21, 2025
Each of the ten Formula 1 teams will field two drivers. This year, the track will feature such motorsport stars as reigning world champion Max Verstappen and his Red Bull Racing teammate Sergio Perez, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes’ George Russell, as well as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Not to be forgotten are such talented drivers as McLaren’s Lando Norris and the experienced Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin, who are capable of surprising their rivals.
The Baku track is a serious test for both the drivers and their cars. It’s not just engine power on long straights that’s important, but also the reliability of the braking system in difficult corners. The teams will carefully select the settings of their cars to achieve the perfect balance between speed and handling. Pirelli, the monopoly tyre supplier since 2011, will provide competitors with reliable rubber capable of handling the conditions of the Baku track.
This race weekend promises to be an adrenaline-fuelled and cultural experience in the heart of Baku. We strongly recommend buying tickets for the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix now on our website. During the competition, the capital of Azerbaijan becomes a magnet for motorsport fans from all over the world. Numerous fan zones, live music concerts and gastronomic festivals create a unique atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy not only the race, but also the beauty of the city.
Last year, Oscar Piastri from McLaren won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc from Ferrari took second place, and George Russell from Mercedes finished third. Who will be the winner this season? We will find out the answer to this question very soon.
It is interesting to note that in the seven years of racing in Baku, not a single driver has been able to defend his title. Six different drivers have climbed to the top step of the podium: Nico Rosberg, Daniel Ricciardo, Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen. Among them, only Sergio Perez was able to win twice - in 2021 and 2023. His experience makes him one of the favorites for the upcoming race. However, the fight promises to be intense: each pilot strives to conquer the Baku track and add it to their achievements. The decisive factors will be the pilot's skill, luck and well-coordinated teamwork.
In addition, it is worth noting the charismatic Sergio Perez as the record holder for the number of podiums in Baku - he finished here in the top three five times. For comparison: his teammate Max Verstappen has only two top-3 finishes on this track so far.
